A survey of the history of Asians and Americans of Asian ancestry in the United States from the 18th century to the present, with emphasis on phases of immigrant history and interactions with recipient communities in the context of U.S. historical development and on issues of race, ethnicity, gender, naturalization and citizenship, and racial, ethnic and cultural identity.
