This course will introduce advanced students to a range of textual and hybrid media that push up against the limits of conventional genres and imagine new ways of writing, thinking, and representing reality. We will explore how to write about a broad range of topics-- from nature and travel to politics, health, sexuality, romance, and technology-- in ways that challenge convention by creating original forms. Drawing upon experimental fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and audio/visual media, students will have the chance to create and workshop projects that break boundaries to explore ideas that matter to them.
