This course is a continuation of the capstone experience from ENGR 487. The students will develop and finalize documentation around the selected design. This focus will be on examining several aspects of the design: possible failure modes, safety, reliability, and manufacturability. Students will examine the economic, environmental, social, and ethical impacts of their designs. Finally, they will develop a testing plan and a planned operations manual.
Prerequisites
This will be the second of two courses that students take to complete an engineering design. The engineering
accreditation organization, ABET , requires that all students have a capstone experience that centers around an
engineering design project, so Engr 487 and 488 together fulfill this requirement.
